Lammas Celebration

  • Carter Overlook 575 Thomas Jefferson Parkway Charlottesville, VA, 22902 United States (map)

On Wednesday, July 31 GC|RH will celebrate Lammas with communal singing with Craig and Cleo! Lammas marks the halfway point between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox. At Lammas, the first fruits of the harvest were offered and blessed. Lammas means loaf mass. Loaves of bread play a central role. Gather at the Carter Overlook (just off Monticello Trail) for a sunset songtuary. Meet in the lower parking lot accessed from Dairy Barn Rd off of Rt 20 at 6:30 pm and start walking to the overlook at 6:35. If you arrive a little late, just set foot and catch up with us at the overlook. It's a 15-minute walk up an easy well-marked trail. We'll spend about an hour contemplayfully singing and attuning to the changing season as the sun sets. There's seating along the low wall that partially encircles the plaza. BYO water!
