The next meeting of the Red Hill Book Club will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 7:00 - 8:30 pm, at Good Shepherd Church. Join Ministry of Imagination (MOI) folks at 6:00 pm for a potluck dinner, or just show up at 7:00 for the book group. We'll be discussing "The Righteous Mind", by Jonathan Haidt. Starting in June, we will focus on racial justice for four months in a row. Stay tuned for info about the book we'll read in June, as well as the date/time. Email Bekah Menning (rimenning@gmail.com) for more information. If you're able to RSVP for the May group, that would be great but not necessary.
The idea for this group emerged from members of the congregation that participated in the Roots Deeper than Whiteness course, in autumn 2023, who found the intimate intellectual learning and discussion deeply fulfilling. Members of the book club will take turns convening the meetings and facilitating discussions. Discussion topics will vary from book to book but some basic prompts might be: How did this book impact you? What lingering questions did this book leave you with? How do the learnings in this book interact with your faith? While we hope that there will be some regular faces, we will announce the book each month to the wider church community and people will be welcome to join if that particular topic piques their interest.
