Mark your calendars for our June meeting:  Wednesday, June 19th, 7:00 - 8:30 pm, at Good Shepherd Church.  We'll be discussing roughly the first half of "Caste:  The Origins of Our Discontents", by Isabel Wilkerson, pages xv to 164 (or Parts 1, 2 & 3). The idea for this group emerged from members of the congregation that participated in the Roots Deeper than Whiteness course, in autumn 2023, who found the intimate intellectual learning and discussion deeply fulfilling. Members of the book club will take turns convening the meetings and facilitating discussions. Discussion topics will vary from book to book but some basic prompts might be: How did this book impact you? What lingering questions did this book leave you with? How do the learnings in this book interact with your faith? While we hope that there will be some regular faces, we will announce the book each month to the wider church community and people will be welcome to join if that particular topic piques their interest.
